Print has its own vocabulary, and it can feel like a barrier. Here are the terms you'll come across most often, in plain English.
'GSM' is grams per square metre — the weight of the paper; higher numbers feel thicker and more premium. 'Stock' simply means the paper or card itself. 'Coated' stocks have a smooth surface for sharp colour; 'uncoated' feels natural and is easy to write on.
'Litho' (offset) printing suits large runs with exact colour; 'digital' printing is ideal for shorter runs and fast turnaround. 'Crop marks' show where a sheet will be trimmed, and 'bleed' is the extra background beyond the trim.
You don't need to memorise any of this — just tell us what you're trying to achieve and we'll translate it into the right specification.
